We are looking for a full time salaried employee to help us at JenniferMaker as our Education Director!

This position focuses on the execution of all JenniferMaker products from creation through launch, including quality and revenue. The Education Department is JenniferMaker’s profit center, which requires the person in this position to have an exceptionally strong understanding of the consumer base in order to successfully create products in line with consumers' needs. The ideal candidate will be experienced with leading and/or managing all aspects of the development process, as well as familiar with the JenniferMaker brand.

The person who is right for this position has experience creating usable products with seamless experiences for customers, and can identify real problems faced by users and come up with workable solutions. While perhaps not quite yet an expert, this person does have a basic understanding of crafting (including cutting machine and sublimation crafts), organization, and home decorating.

This position is accountable for: LMA (leadership, management, and accountability of the Education team); product quality; revenue; ebooks, workshops, courses, events, and our membership programs; creating, maintaining, and updating products; and facilitating a product creation schedule.

This position involves a combination of organization, creativity, and follow-through, and it has high expectations for meeting deadlines and attention to detail.

Position Details

Status: Salaried employee (not a contractor position)

Position Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000 - $85,000 annually

Location:  This position is eligible for remote work from anywhere within the United States.

Availability: This position requires working within our general operating hours of 8:00am-8:00pm in the Eastern Time Zone; flexibility and ability to pivot is a must, including weekends, holidays, and some non-traditional hours as needed to accommodate our leisure-based audience.

High Volume Work Periods: Our busiest times of the year are Thanksgiving weekend (the Friday after Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday), December 1 through December 20, and the week after Christmas (December 26 through December 31). During these times, any time off requests will be at the discretion of the CEO, and work schedules and regular days off may be adjusted to accommodate operational needs.

Special Note: As a JenniferMaker employee, you will not be able to engage in any outside activity that could be construed as a conflict of interest, such as running or working on your own or someone else's blog or crafting business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to and oversee the daily operations of assigned staff.
  • Supervise staff, including scheduling and assigning work, reviewing performance, and recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
  • Oversees and is responsible for all product creation elements, from the initial conception to final product.
  • Prototype and test products for quality to ensure a successful final product.
  • Ensure that products are maintained and updated as needed.
  • Reviews the work of the product creation team to give guidance and feedback.
  • Meet deadlines on time and within budget while managing multiple projects.
  • Drive multiple projects through to delivery with the ability to change course as expectations and requirements change.
  • Collaborate with marketing to coordinate successful product launches.
  • Provide accurate point-in-time view of timeline, budget, scope, resourcing, and progress on all projects being managed.
  • Maintains high standards of quality and makes sure only the best work is released.
  • Understands that copyrights and ownership for designs created for the JenniferMaker brand will belong to the brand.
  • Understands and uses the JenniferMaker products and projects so you can answer questions and support our crafters.
  • Effectively communicates with the team and meets with us weekly on Zoom video chats.
  • Has the best interest of the JenniferMaker brand in mind.
  • Helps us look good to our readers and community.
  • Works with minimal supervision.
  • Additional duties as required. 

Things You've Done in the Past

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in consumer-directed instructional product development or related field.  At least 3 of these years must have been in a managerial position overseeing employees.  
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have successfully completed college level design and/or education classes.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of the consumer base in order to successfully create products in line with consumers’ needs.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other design software.
  • Experience with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Forms, and Facebook (pages, groups, and ads).
  • Experience with a Cricut cutting machine and Cricut Design Space.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cricut crafting and sublimation.
  • Experience working with a virtual team.
  • Project management skills and experience are a plus.
