If you’re new to vinyl crafting, this class is perfect to learn core skills. We do recommend you choose one of the designs (the song glass tile -or- the soundwave art) to make first, to keep it simpler.

  • How to design your vinyl art for success.
  • How to cut and weed your vinyl without tearing your hair out.

Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

Why should I enroll in a workshop instead of watch a YouTube video or read a blog tutorial?

This in-depth workshop is for designed those who feel they need a little extra help understanding how these multi-step song and sound projects work — you can ask questions and feel confident that you'll get help here! This workshop is also great for those who enjoy learning from Jennifer's easy-to-understand, calm, and clear method of teaching. This is a no-fluff, no-mess, no-distraction workshop ... it's like sitting down with Jennifer in her craft room to learn directly from her!

How long is the workshop?

It workshop is just over six hours, but only the first two hours are necessary for grasping the skills—the rest of the workshop is a Q&A session with Jennifer and a demonstration of how you can meld the two song code techniques together into a single project.

Do I have to have to use Facebook for this workshop?

No. All videos, workbooks, files, and resources are stored in the Workshop Area in our Teachable school system, which does not share a login with Facebook. That said, the Facebook group is a great place to ask questions, see answers to other's questions, and get inspiration!

What materials do I need to make these projects?

For the Spotify Song Tile, you'll need:

  • A Spotify account (free or premium)
  • A song on Spotify you'd like to use (I'll show how to get the Spotify code in the workshop)
  • Glass or plexiglass frames (you can get these at the dollar store or online at Amazon — I recommend you use 8" x 10 or 8" x 12"). Floating frames are particularly great for this!
  • White permanent vinyl (I do not recommend removable vinyl)
  • Transfer tape, transfer paper, or (in a pinch) painter's tape
  • A printed photo (or an inkjet printer and some paper so you can print a digital image)
  • Double-stick tape
  • (Optional) Printable vinyl and self-laminating film (for a longer-lasting photo)
  • Something to clean your glass, such as rubbing alcohol and a lint-free towel

For the Soundwave Art, you'll need:

  • A way to record your sound byte, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer (I will show you how to do it on an iPhone in the workshop)
  • A white tile, sign, board, or canvas, made as smooth as possible with spray paint, acrylic paint clear coat, or polyeurethane in advance
  • Black or dark permanent vinyl (I do not recommend removable vinyl)
  • Transfer tape, transfer paper, or (in a pinch) painter's tape

Note: A full material and tool list with a variety of options is listed in the workshop, and is available to you immediately upon enrolling. You'll also have directions to get your Spotify song code, soundwave files, and QR codes immediately. You can get the codes with free accounts on a phone, tablet, computer, or laptop! No software purchases or licenses are required for this workshop.

Can I sell the projects I make in this workshop?

You can sell projects so long as you own the intellectual property portrayed on your projects. If it is your voice, your soundwave is yours. Do note, however, that Spotify's terms and conditions do not allow you to sell or offer Spotify Codes.

What equipment do I need to make these projects?

Along with an internet connection, you'll need:

  • A way to cut your vinyl, such as a Cricut Explore, Cricut Maker, Cricut Joy, Silhouette Cameo, Brother Cut 'N' Scan, or even just scissors or a craft knife (with some patience). Please note that I will show you how to do these projects in Cricut Design Space during the workshop.
  • A weeding tool or something else sharp and poky (like a craft knife) to weed your vinyl
  • A scraper tool or store loyalty card
  • A way to print your image if you're not using a photo (such as an inkjet printer)
  • A computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone

Will I be able to ask questions?

Yes! You can post a question anytime in the private Facebook group and/or send us a message and we're happy to help!
